40 Hours laptops?

From the designer of One Laptop Per Child's, Mary Lou Jepsen introduce an energy-efficient screens for laptops and e-books in the second half of 2009. The laptop battery will run for 20 to 40 hours before needing a recharge.



The screen will be readable under direct sunlight and consume a small fraction of the power of a traditional display.

Sydney Opera House inspired by an orange?



Jørn Oberg born 9 April 1918 – 29 November 2008 was a Danish architect most notable for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

The 14 shells of the building, if combined, would form a perfect sphere.
Utzon design was inspired by the simple act of peeling an orange.

The Opera House was finally completed, and opened in 1973 by Elizabeth IIQueen of Australia. The architect was not invited to the ceremony, nor was his name mentioned.

On 28 June 2007, the Sydney Opera House was declared a World Heritage Site.

myPOD and myBILL?

Pencil lead as memory in the future?



According to the research team's at Rice University a 10 atom thick strip of graphite will be the future of memory storage.

The new material could expand storage capacity by a factor of five, with individual components being thinner than 10 nanometers.

  • less energy leaked
  • material produces very little heat
  • will make devices smaller in the future
  • and make memory capacities larger
