myPOD and myBILL?

Pencil lead as memory in the future?



According to the research team's at Rice University a 10 atom thick strip of graphite will be the future of memory storage.

The new material could expand storage capacity by a factor of five, with individual components being thinner than 10 nanometers.

  • less energy leaked
  • material produces very little heat
  • will make devices smaller in the future
  • and make memory capacities larger

What's GFP?

With the aid of GFP, researchers have developed ways to watch processes that were previously invisible, such as the development of nerve cells in the brain or how cancer cells spread.

2008 Nobel Prize in chemistry Roger Y. Tsien "for his discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) with two other chemists: Martin Chalfie of Columbia University and Osamu Shimomura of Boston University and Marine Biological Laboratory.
