Pencil lead as memory in the future?

According to the research team's at Rice University a 10 atom thick strip of graphite will be the future of memory storage.

The new material could expand storage capacity by a factor of five, with individual components being thinner than 10 nanometers.

  • less energy leaked
  • material produces very little heat
  • will make devices smaller in the future
  • and make memory capacities larger
